Stormwater Solutions Tour

Date: 2 Jun

Time: 12:00pm - 1:30pm

Location: Cedar Point, NC

Description:

Clean water is essential to NC's seafood economy and all of us play a part in the health of our state's waterways.

The North Carolina Coastal Federation and East Carolina University have been working with the Croatan National Forest to reduce the amount of polluted stormwater runoff flowing into the White Oak River. Join us at the for a tour of several newly installed Best Management Practices (BMPs) at the Cedar Point Recreation Area. Projects include street-side swales, a rain garden and check dams. Ways to incorporate similar stormwater solutions into your own landscape will also be demonstrated.

After visiting the project sites, the group will have an opportunity to walk along sections of the Cedar Point Tideland Trail to learn more about the wildlife and habitats that these projects help protect. A picnic lunch will be provided starting at noon.

If you plan to attend please RSVP by emailing rachelb@nccoast.org.
