"Connecting Consumers to the Coast" with Fresh NC Seafood

Recipe

Fresh seafood can be hard to come by if you live hundreds of miles inland. Locals Seafood is making that less of a challenge by offering fresh, local seafood in the Triangle area at the Western Wake Farmers Market and the State Farmers Market in Raleigh. Ryan Speckman and Lin Peterson started Locals Seafood in 2010 buying shrimp from Stumpy Point, NC with just a cooler and a pickup truck. Today, the make four trips a week to the NC coast to bring fresh seafood inland for consumers. Buying fresh seafood can be affordable if you buy in season and buy the underutilized species.

Cape Shark is another name for dogfish, an underutilized fish caught off the coast. The recipe can be substituted with monkfish or any other white-fleshed fish.
