NC Catch Chef Ambassador Scott Alderson is the Chef and owner of  Native Prime Provisions in Cashiers, NC.  It is both a boutique meat and fish market, as well as a lunch counter restaurant and bar - the Meraki Oyster and Omakase Lounge.  Much like Scott himself, this is no ordinary establishment.  It is a small, intimate space that serves outstanding local fare with an Asian flair and sells out daily!

Scott’s culinary pursuits have taken him many places and worked with many notable chefs in his storied career, but always longing for the mountains of North Carolina he returned to Cashiers from the Bahamas in 2014.  Then in 2021, Scott opened Native Prime Provisions, a boutique butcher shop and fish market which specializes in super prime house dry aged beef, local chicken and pork, specialty grocery products, and of course seafood.

“Our passion is to source North Carolina seafood products from up and down the coast, from the Inner Banks to the Outer Banks, sharing all the goodness with our customers.” This focus on providing fresh North Carolina seafood had him heading to the coast weekly pulling a refrigerated trailer to procure the best possible seafood for his market.  He’s met fishermen, oystermen, shrimpers, market owners and other chefs in pursuit of the best.  After establishing relationships and mutual trust with his vendors of choice, he was able to start receiving shipments and hung up his trucker hat to return to his work as a chef, and opened the lunch counter.

Native Prime Provisions is the western most point in the state for the NC Catch Chef Ambassadors, as well as on the NC Oyster Trail.  “I’ve loved North Carolina seafood and oysters my entire life and they’ve been a part of every menu I’ve ever created.”
